Mister Blanco's Fourth Grade Class 2

The other half of the class.

The Athletic One – Spencer Thompson - The athlete who is not very good at being an athlete. Spencer's father was a football player, all 5 of his brothers are known for their athletic accomplishments, and now Spencer feels that it is the only way to not disappoint his father that he becomes an athlete too. However, Spencer is very clumsy. Spencer’s best friend is Buff. When Spencer isn’t playing some type of sport, he can usually be found close by the arcade or Kyung’s family restaurant.

The Tattle-Tale – Eloise Barnett – Eloise is the only child of a very prominent family. Her parents have never had to work a day in their lives due to the inheritance of the family railroad industry from her great great grandfather. Eloise often is annoyed with others and when she does not get her way she will make up lies to tell Mister Blanco for sympathy. If Eloise sees anyone doing anything wrong (besides her) she will immediately begin to tell her teacher. Not all of her heart is covered in ice. She does at times show she cares towards her classmates. Eloise even helped Carla with some baseball tips at one time.

The Quiet One – Abdullah Assad – Abdullah is a very shy and timid boy who likes to be in the background rather than upfront. His family came to America from Jerusalem. Art nicknamed him ‘Abe’. Abdullah likes to read in his spare time and play a little baseball along the way. He is seen as mysterious and odd by the kids in class who do not associate with him. Abdullah often hangs around George and Kyung.

The Bad Boy – Kai Palakiko – The bad boy who isn’t as bad as he may seem. Kai acts like a mean ole’ bully, but he’s really just a tender hearted nine-year-old. Kai, at one time being a new kid himself, was bullied. He got into many fights in order to build a reputation for himself. He does not like being picked on and has a very short temper. He tries hard to keep the ‘bad boy’ title he has made for himself, however Jamila urges him to show his true colors. He is often annoyed with her constant happy mood. He does harbor a slight crush on the happy-go-lucky girl, however. Of course, if you tease him about it you may get a black eye.

The Optimistic One – Jamila Akita – She is African American and Asian. She likes to look on the brighter side of things. Jamila believes that all things in the world are good, but sometimes get misunderstood. She often likes to bug Kai who she tries to get to open up to her. Even in the bad times when everything seems hopeless, Jamila is the girl who can wrap and shiny red ribbon on the problem. She is often around either Kai or her best friend Cleo.

The Hippie – Ziggy Anderson – Born in a hippie family. Ziggy often comes into class late. He rides his bike to and from school. Plays some ‘sweet nostalgic tunes’ in the school courtyard. Even eats flowers instead of meat. Ziggy often laughs at things that don’t make sense and seems to be a little ‘out of it’ in class. He’s a very laid back kid and goes with the flow.

The Runt – Julian Media – The new kid in the classroom. He is an immigrant from Mexico. Julian knows very little English, even though he can read and write it very good. He has a hard time pronouncing English words which often gets the him teased. He is the reason the class calls their teacher Mister Blanco instead of Mister White. Julian gets very frustrated at times when answering questions in class in English, however, he is very determined to make the best of his fourth-grade year.

Mister Blanco – An artist whose main job is to educate this group of fourth graders. He is very quiet and timid. He likes to sit in a corner and work on his latest piece of artwork as the children are hard at work. He is not married. Art and Carla often try to hook their teacher up with the local Librarian. Though, Mister Blanco’s excuse is always “I’m married to my artwork”. Mister Blanco’s real name is Mister White. He often gets really frustrated when his students address him by Mister Blanco. However, overtime he has come to accept it.
